On the occasion of the announcement of
the names of the winners of UNESCO-King
Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use
of Information and Communication Technolo-
gies in Education for the year 2007, it is my
great honour and privilege to congratulate
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa the
King of the Kingdom of Bahrain for His Maj-
esty’s decision to establish this distinguished
prize which carries great significance in the
domains of education, science and technol-
ogy.
Making it a real testimony of what the King-
dom has achieved under His Majesty’s reign
in the field of education, which underscores
the distinguished role His Majesty is playing
in consolidating the foundations of human
civilization.
This prize corresponds to the policies and
strategies of UNESCO in promoting the use
of information and communication technolo-
gies in education, which are aimed at rein-
forcing the teaching/learning processes and
providing all possible avenues for achieving
this goal. The prize also coincides with His
Majesty’s directives to the Ministry of Educa-
tion to transform the system of education in
Bahrain from a conventional learning system
to an e-learning system, as envisaged in the
objectives of King Hamad’s Schools of the
Future Project.
